BULLETIN ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM THE DIOCESE OF HAMILTON

25/6/2018

Comments

Naš hamiltonski biskup Most Rev.

A VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE
FROM THE DIOCESE OF HAMILTON

His Excellency Bishop Crosby recently announced a planning study, which is now under way, to help the Diocese evaluate the merits of a Diocesan capital campaign. This campaign will involve each of our Parishes.
The proposed goals focus centrally on Parish life, but will also help enhance several Diocesan ministries important to parishioners.
The Diocese wants to hear from as many parishioners as possible as they evaluate their proposed campaign plan. Your feedback will be critical to the success of this effort.
The Diocese-wide planning study is off to a great start - thanks to all those who have participated! In the first few weeks, an incredible number of surveys have been completed. However - we also want to hear from YOU.
If you have not filled out a survey and want to share your thoughts, visit hamiltondiocese.com/campaign to learn more about the proposed campaign goals (Individual parish needs 75%, Diocesan programs 25%), complete the survey and provide your comments.
The online survey closes on Monday, July 9 - please don’t delay in sharing your thoughts about our plans to help your Parish and our Diocese to grow and thrive. Thank you.

A MESSAGE FROM THE DIOCESE OF HAMILTON

You are invited to a Healing Mass for Those Mourning the Loss of a Child – Losing a child is a painful and life-altering experience for parents, grandparents and other family members. The feeling of loss, regardless of the amount of time that has passed, is often more profound during the Christmas season. A Diocesan Healing Mass, meant to bring hope to all those trying to cope with such grief, is planned at the Cathedral Basilica of Christ the King for Sunday, December 3rd, 2017 at 4 pm.
Any one who has lost a child of any age from any cause, including those that have lost a child prior to birth, or who have had a still birth are invited to this Mass celebrated by Bishop Douglas Crosby. God is close to those who mourn, come and experience His healing presence.
Registration is preferred, but not necessary, as it will assist us in knowing how many spaces to reserve and to ensure we have enough of the small memento each family will receive. Please call Lena at 905-528- 7988 ext. 2249, or register on-line at www.hamiltondiocese.com.

Discover your unique patternof fertility and infertility

12/4/2017

Comments

Take the guesswork out of preventing pregnancy or achieving pregnancy by learning how to identify your natural signals of fertility and infertility. Natural Family Planning (NFP) helps couple become aware of their own fertility and helps them to understand how the body’s natural processes can be used to plan children. Join us on Saturday, April 22nd from 9:30 am – 12:30pm at the Chancery Office at 700 King St. West in Hamilton and learn more about what is effective and what is not when it comes to NFP. Learn more about the scientific data that supports NFP as a viable method of family planning, how it can help you with irregular cycles and also help you to achieve pregnancy when that time comes. This session is meant to inform you about NFP and is not a teaching of a specific method, although information on where to get couple-to-couple instruction will be provided. Rose Heron, our presenter, is the Program Director for the Natural Family Planning Association in Toronto.
No charge to attend; couples, individuals, parents and adolescent daughters are all welcome. Please let us know if you are coming at 905-528-7988 ext. 2249, or register on line at http://hamiltondiocese.com/offices/family-ministry/natural-family-planning/.

Safeguarding persons most at risk

Safeguarding persons most at risk
Bill C-14 is now before the Parliament of Canada. No matter how it may be amended, it is an affront to human dignity, an erosion of human solidarity, and a danger to all vulnerable persons -- particularly the aged, disabled, infirm and sick who so often find themselves isolated and marginalized. Moreover, it is a violation of the sacrosanct duty of healthcare providers to heal, and the responsibility of legislators and citizens to assure and provide protection for all, especially those persons most at risk. For information to share with others about the negative impact of physician-assisted suicide, visit www.hamiltondiocese.com or www.cccb.ca/site/eng/media-room/euthanasia-and-assisted-suicide/4463-campaigns-against-physician-assisted-suicide.

5 CAMPAIGNS AGAINST PHYSICIAN-ASSISTED SUICIDE
The Respect for Conscience bilingual campaign involves a proposal on how to respect the conscience rights of doctors and health-care facilities when faced with the situation of a patient requesting assisted suicide. The project is an initiative of the Coalition for HealthCARE and Conscience. Involving the Archdiocese of Toronto, the Christian Medical and Dental Society of Canada, the Catholic Organization for Life and Family, the Canadian Federation of Catholic Physicians' Societies, the Canadian Catholic Bioethics Institute, and Canadian Physicians for Life, it represents 5000 physicians and 110 healthcare facilities with 18,000 care beds and 60,000 staff. Concerned Canadians can indicate their support, as well as write to the appropriate officials in each province or territory with respect to its plans to protect the conscience rights of health-care workers and facilities. http://www.canadiansforconscience.ca/
Life-giving Love is a bilingual information campaign for palliative care, and against euthanasia and assisted suicide. It was launched by the Catholic Organization for Life and Family in cooperation with the Canadian Catholic Conference of Bishops. http://www.lifegivinglove.com/
Religious leaders of Canadian Catholics, Orthodox, Evangelical Christians, Jews, Muslims and Mormons have issued a bilingual joint Declaration on Euthanasia and Assisted Suicide. Over 20,000 Canadians have signed, urging federal, provincial and territorial legislators to enact and uphold laws to make good-quality home care and palliative care accessible, and to implement regulations and policies that ensure respect for the freedom of conscience of all health-care workers and administrators who will not and cannot accept suicide or euthanasia as a medical solution to pain and suffering. http://www.euthanasiadeclaration.ca/
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vancouver has launched a campaign to protect and safeguard freedom of conscience and religion for health-care workers. It includes a petition to the House of Commons for a national strategy on palliative care, as well as a postcard to the Minister of Justice. http://rcav.org/assisted-suicide/
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton is sponsoring a campaign to promote the true dignity of life and death. Every Life Matters includes a website with a video to help parishes and ordinary Catholics understand the issues involved, and provides a list of practical suggestions on how to choose life. http://www.commitlife.com/
The above campaigns are promoted by Canadian Catholic Bishops. Each campaign provides background information on euthanasia and assisted suicide.
